Objectives:
  • To create awareness about voice culture & voice therapy practices in general public.
  • To provide Voice Care & Voice therapy for the children and older patients with voice problems.
Specialty clinic for voice disorders was started in 2006, the year of inception of the college. Since then the clinic is actively involved in the evaluation and treatment of various kinds of voice problems. The department is equipped with state of art instrumentation required for diagnosis and treatment voice problems. The facility of videolaryngoscopy is available at the ENT Department of Bharati Hospital. Facilities which are available at the college are as follows:
  • Acoustic voice analysis using Doctor Speech or CSL
  • EGG
  • Nasometry
  • Voice therapy
  • Voice culture
  • Computerized Speech Lab(CSL) - 4500.

Specialty clinic for Cochlear implants

The college has a specialty clinic for cochlear implants for rehabilitation of those individuals who do not benefit from hearing aids. Dr. Gauri Belsare, i/c Principal was instrumental in starting the cochlear implant surgery program at the ENT department of the Bharati Hospital. Special training for cochlear implant surgery was imparted by Dr. Miland Kirtane, a renowned surgeon in the field of cochlear implant. The School of Audiology and Speech Language pathology provides complementary services which include the following:
  • Cochlear Implant Candidacy Evaluation
  • Pre-implant Counseling
  • Intra-operative NRT
  • Switch-on & Post-implant Mapping
  • Auditory Verbal Therapy

Speciality clinic for cleft lip and palate was Established on 29th September 2008. Objectives:
  • To provide quality service to individuals with cleft lip and / or palate.
  • To create awareness about the assessment and management services available for individuals with cleft lip and/ or palate.

Specialty Clinic for Augmentative and Alternative Communication

The college has been providing services to a large number of clients who do not have adequate speech to meet all their communication needs, across partners and settings. This group included individuals with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Mental Retardation, Apraxia, and Aphasia. With this need in mind The Specialty Clinic for Augmentative and Alternative Communication was inaugurated on 4th Aug.2009 by Mrs. Sudha Kaul, the pioneer in the field of AAC in India.

Objectives:

  • To provide every individual with a means of functional communication
  • To train parents/caregivers to be effective communication facilitators
  • To disseminate information about AAC & technology
  • To train the students to start AAC programs

Self help Group of Individuals with fluency disorders

Self help Group of Individuals with fluency disorders

  • The college has been actively involved in the evaluation and therapy for individuals with Fluency disorders. A self help group was formed for individuals with fluency disorders with the following objectives:
  • To give group therapy to individuals with Fluency disorders.
  • To help the individuals with fluency disorders to cope with their social, emotional and personality problems.
  • A total number of 70 individuals have registered till date. Activities such as stress management workshop, rate reduction techniques and use of Yoga for helping individuals with fluency disorders have been conducted
