Speech Language Evaluation:The caseload comprises of clients with inadequate speech and language, disorders of articulation, fluency, voice and neurogenic speech language disorders.
- Clients with inadequate speech and language include children with mental sub-normality, Hearing Impairment, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Expressive Delay, Learning Disabilities, ADHD, SLI and clients with Cerebral Palsy, Cleft Lip and Palate etc. Language evaluation is carried out using tests such as 3D LAT, REELS, SICD, Pragmatic Profile and LPT. Other tests such as CARS, MCHAT,GARS are used to identify those with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
- Clients with disorders of articulations form the next common group which includes children with misarticulations and phonological errors. PAT, OPME and Phonological Processes analysis are used for evaluation. Ve to Fut
- There has been an increase in the number of clients with disorders of voice and fluency who have been evaluated at the college in the last three years. Both perceptual and instrumental analysis is used for diagnosis of voice disorders.
- Individuals with neurogenic speech and language disorders, such as dysarthria, aphasia and dysphagia are evaluated using a battery of tests which include WAB, BDAE and QNST. The staff of the college has developed WAB in Marathi, cranial nerve examination proforma, screening checklist for swallowing disorders and bedside evaluation proforma for swallowing.
