Orientation Programs and Public Education
International day for persons with disability is observed on 3rd December world wide every year. On this occasion the School of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology organised interschool cultural and sports competitions on the 2nd & 3rd Dec’ 13. Children from around six well known special schools of Pune participated in these competitions. Consecutively a prize distribution ceremony was held on 4th Dec which was graced by the presence of honorable chief guest Ms. Ritu Chhabria, Managing Trustee of Mukul Madhav Foundation, Pune. She felicitated 20 winners for their excellent performance in the competitions and also distributed sweets among rest of the participants.

School of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology organised a Graduation ceremony, “Graduation from Silence to World of sounds” for children with hearing impairment as a part of celebration of Golden Jubilee Year on 3rd August Four children with hearing impairment who have been enrolled in a normal school were awarded graduate certificate by Dr. R. S. Kharat, Dean of Medical sciences, BV (DU) and Dr. V.A. Saoji, Principal BV (DU) Medical College, Pune.

The United Nations has declared 3rd December as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPWD). This year the Theme for IDPWD 2015 was ‘Inclusion Matters and Equal Participation and Opportunities’. On this occasion Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) School of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (BV (DU) SASLP), Pune organized various Fine arts, Sports and Cultural competitions from 26th November 2015 to 1st Dec,2015.A total of 30 children of different age groups with various speech/language/hearing disabilities took part in the competitions.
Consecutively a graduation ceremony of six children with congenital severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss who are now integrated in normal schools after receiving hearing aids/cochlear implants and speech language therapy at SASLP was held on 3rd Dec,2015 .This event was graced by the presence of honorable chief guest Mr. Milind Ladge, Director and Founder of Aryan World School, Pune. As a part of the event, prize distribution was done for the winners of various competitions. Also, Seven children with communication disorders, who improved after undergoing speech language therapy at SASLP were felicitated on this occasion.

An orientation program to create awareness on ‘Hearing Loss and Cochlear Implant: A Global Scenario’ was conducted on 6th April 2016 by School of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology and Bharati Medical College, Pune.
The Chief guest for the program was Cricket legend Mr. Brett Lee , who is the first Global hearing Ambassador of Cochlear Pvt. Ltd. Guest of Honor for the program was Honourable Dr. Vishwajeet Kadam, Secretary, Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune. Dignitaries present for the program were Dr. Asmita Jagtap (Executive Director, Bharati Hospital). Dr. V.N. Karandikar (Director, Medical Sciences), Dr. S. Lalwani (Director Medical Hospital) and Dr. V. Saoji (Principle, Medical College and School of Audiology and Speech Language pathology attended the program.
On this occasion Mr.Breet Lee shared his experience on serving as a global ambassador for hearing and emphasized the importance of Early identification and intervention for children with hearing loss. He also spent some quality time with children using cochlear implants and undergoing post implantation rehabilitation at BV (DU) SASLP. The program concluded with a prize distribution ceremony for the winners of a quiz competition on Theme: Hearing loss and Cochlear Implant’ and with the dignitaries and the audience taking the following Oath.
“I solemly pledge to create awareness and help people with hearing loss so that their dignity,integrity and rights are protected in the Society. Lets break the barrier and open the gates towards inclusive society.”
